This is an Upside Down aquaruim sitting in what I call a Cascade tank – others may call it a horizon tank. Water is pumped from the bottom tank into the upper tank which oveflows back down into the lower tank. Controlled flooding.

So, are you going to run the lower tank at less than full? That would allow for a fault in your upside down tank to have a place to go.

Long term, there will be a sump and I will pump out of the sump and run the bottom tank full. For now, it will run just full or less at stasis.
