I just spent ten minutes waiting for the gal to find my order at the Taco Bell drive through. Maddening!
Ten thousand miles on my new Ford today.Looks like it will be high miles before it is paid off.
Working on the Kayak again.
Well, I finally got to working on the kayak again. It has been a long time away from my pet project. It has been sitting, all folded up, at the foot of my bed. It took me a while to realize that I have misplaced all my old notes, so I had to pull up the plans on my computer. As you can see, the cat’s decided that they are going to help. Here Sister is curled up in the jigsaw case. Is that comfortable Sister?
I had a hard time trying to figure out how to cut this fancy shaped hinge piece. I ended up cutting all the curves and so on with it still on the stock, and then cutting it off and cleaning it up with a file and a dremel tool.
This is the end piece of the cockpit end assembly. I had a hard time trying to figure out from the drawings what to do here. I ended up just making a piece, seeing it was wrong, and re-making it correctly. The bottom piece is wrong, the top piece is correct. Note 2 things, one, that there is an eight inch slot between the flat and bent ends for the cockpit sides and also that the bend starts at 7/8s of an inch, and not at the full 1 inch that I had cut.
Like I said, the cats had decided that they where going to help!
Cat Climber
My Cats LOVE to climb, up in my closet, on my entertainment center, the kitchen counter, everywhere that they can go. I had bought one of those little cat scrathing posts. They seem to like it, but it just didn’t seem big enough for them.
So I decided to fix that problem for them.
I had some spare parts from making my bed frame. I decided to make it into a BIG cat scratching post. Does 6 feet tall qualify as big?
I picked up some 10″ shelf brackets to help reinforce the differnet pieces. All said in done, I am going to have $30-$35 bucks wrapped up in this eyesore. Most of this will be for the sisal rope. I figure I am going to need 400 feet of rope to wrap the 16 feet of 2×6 that I am using for uprights.
Of course AFTER I nailed on the first piece of rope do I think of wrapping the wire-staples in some of the twine that they tied the sisal rope with.
I have it propped up against the wall for now, so it doesn’t fall over. I will eventually tack it to the wall when I find it’s final location. This is just to keep the cats from getting hurt if they ever hit it hard enough to tip it over. Brother here is already climbing up it. He is looking for more to climb. I think he will love the finished item.
Soup’s on
I made soup last week. It was Bear Creek Chicken Noodle soup that I doctored up a bit. I used chicken broth for half the requested liquid, and cooked some peices of chicken that I had in the freezer for a couple of hours before I added the soup mix. I also added a can of corn and a can of beans. It turned out really yummy!
I had originally wanted to make bread bowls to eat it in, but I grabbed too small of a pan and made HUGE buns. They turned out really well though, so it’s all good!
