A couple dozen new blacksmithing photos from today

I made something kinda cool today too! It kinda didn't turn out half bad.

In album Blacksmithing (81 photos)

Bricks lining an old gas grill to make a forge.
Using the holey bricks as a Turyere to provide air to the charcoal.
Fire!
An iron in the fire!
The blower on to make the fire very very hot.

That's a hot bit of metal

Working on Bella’s barn some more.

I forged some hinges for Bella’s play barn this last weekend. Tonight I put a second coat of paint on the exterior and hung the door.

I will use some 'junk' nails I picked up on freecycle that have no points for the hinge pins

I have to make a door handle for the barn door. I will try to match the hinges. Eventually I would like to make a proper door latch, but my blacksmithing skills aren’t there yet.

I need to put a  2nd coat of paint on the inside and all the trim. The roof needs a few more pieces made up, and the door and sides will get some white trim to make it look more ‘barnish’..
